I’m now well into my second month here at
the Fukuoka office, so I thought it was about time that I wrote a blog entry.
Since I moved here from the Kyoto office at
the beginning of October, life has been fairly hectic. Among other things, I've had to get
used to living alone after 13 years of marriage, as well as meeting the completely
new challenge of competing in a relay marathon.
Last month was a particularly busy one for everyone
at the Fukuoka office. This was due in
part to Soei’s annual company trip being held in Kyushu at the beginning of
November. As part of the entertainment,
we performed the Matsuken Samba in front of the entire company. This performance lasted little more than five
minutes, but took quite some time to practice during breaks and after work! In fact, this turned out to be a surprisingly
enjoyable experience, and had us reduced to tears of laughter on more than one
occasion.
One of our ongoing efforts has been to hold
an English conversation group twice a week at lunchtimes. In fact, we often use English in the morning,
during breaks and outside of work.
Despite its size, the Fukuoka office is international in scope!
The current level of activity shows little
signs of slowing down – we are scheduled to take part in another relay marathon
later this month. Watch this space!
